It was
thanks to Luc Morisod, the then president of the AFM, based at the Rocking Chair
in Vevey, that Mythical Arrangement first took to the stage.
The group was composed of just 3 musicians : Berro, Tim and David.
After their first couple of gigs it was obvious that a rythm section was missing.
This gap was eventually filled by Jenny, drummer/percussionist.
Little by little, more instruments such as the double-bass, piano and didgeridoo
were added, again increasing the melodious and harmonic diversity of Mythical
Arrangement.
After several more gigs, the band released their first 5 track CD « Drowning »
in October 2000. The first three songs « Sister », « Words » and « Lying On The
Sun », were recorded at Full Range studios in Vevey and the last two « Insane »
and « Swallowhole » were recorded in concert at the Theatre Interface in Sion.
In 2001, Mythical Arrangement participated in the recording of a compilation
entitled « Alchimie » produced by the Association de la Ferme Menthée (AFM)
based in Vevey. The CD was compiled of two songs from six different bands of
very different musical styles. Mythical Arrangement recorded two new songs for
this compilation « Know and Fall » and « We Should Wait... ».
At the end of the year, Mythical Arrangement lost two of its members (David Noir
and Tim Dubray) who both wished to start their own projects. Two new members
(Albert Degruffy : bass and Samir Harbi : guitar) joined and the band were ready
for a new start as of the beginning of 2002.
The presence of electric guitars, absent at the beginning, brought even more
varied sounds and added power to some songs. However, most of the songs remained
acoustic in origin.
2002 saw the band embark on a mini-tour of England, playing 10 gigs in 4
different cities (Manchester, London, Northampton and Leeds). During their stay,
the band visited BBC Manchester for a live interview and performance. At the end
of the year, the band release their third EP « Lost », containing three new
titles.
After a year of playing lead guitar
with Mythical Arrangement, Samir had to unfortunately leave the band due to work
commitments, but not without leaving some excellent guitar work on many of the
bands compositions. Serge Degruffy (die-hard fan of the band and brother of
bassist Albert) soon replaced him. The band even had the opportunity of playing
twice with both guitarists as a 5 piece.
After two years of several personnel changes, the band made the new members
presece felt with a new self-recorded product. In 2003, a 3 track CD « Spaces »
is released, and in 2004 a single « Hysterical Healing ».
At the end of 2003, the band were invited to play for the « Telethon ». The band
played « Hysterical Healing » from the Miles Davis Hall in Montreux to a
television audience all over the French speaking part of Switzerland, and
helping raise over 1.5 million Swiss Francs (approx. $1.22M; £670,000) for the
charity.
« Spaces » and « Hysterical Healing » are songs which both form part of the
bands current project – a full-length studio album for a 2005 release.
